We only need version 1.0 of the VIX API.
IIRC, you can use a newer VIX API (from the 2.0 series), they are
backwards compatible.


A quote from the INSTALL file:
3. install vmware-vix
   # go to http://www.vmware.com/support/developer/vix-api/
   # extract the archive
   # tar xf VMware-vix-1.6.2-127388.i386.tar.gz

I used version 1.6.2 and it worked.
