If you get this error from vmware-server-console:

"Unable to connect to the MKS: You need execute access in order to
connect with the VMware Server Console.  Access denied for config
file: /home/so/vmware/so-vm-win2k3/Windows Server 2003 Standard
Edition.vmx."

consider giving execuțion rights to the vmx file reported.
